Here’s a look at some of the designs. Most are cozy, detailed scenes, so they suit older kids and adults who enjoy a slow, relaxing color.

Succulent Window Shelf
A wooden shelf lined with potted succulents. Every pot is a little mini-project, so it’s easy to color one plant at a time.

Books and Succulents
Small succulents in patterned pots next to books, a journal, a pen and reading glasses. The pot patterns are perfect for fine-tip markers.

Desert Cactus Scene
Tall cacti and round succulents under a bright sun, with mountains behind. Try a sunset sky in oranges and pinks for a warm desert glow.

Blooming Succulent Garden
A big succulent beside tall daisy-like flowers, with butterflies and a watering can. The most colorful page of the set.

How to Color Succulents
- Skip the “plain green.” Real succulents come in blue-green, sage, mint, grey-green and even dusty purple. Giving each pot a different green makes a shelf scene look far more real.
- Blush the tips. Many succulents turn pink, red or orange at the leaf tips when they get lots of sun. A light touch of pink at the end of each leaf is the easiest way to make them pop.
- Shade where leaves overlap. On rosettes, color each leaf lighter at the tip and a little darker near the center where it tucks under the next leaf.
- Terracotta pots. A warm orange-brown with a darker rim reads instantly as a clay pot. Save the bold patterns for one or two “feature” pots.
Succulent Facts to Share While Coloring
- Succulents store water in their thick, fleshy leaves and stems, which is why they survive dry places.
- All cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti.
- The jade plant, aloe and echeveria (the classic rosette shape) are three of the most popular houseplant succulents.
Succulent Coloring Ideas
- Plant-lover gift. Color a shelf scene, frame it and pair it with a real potted succulent.
- Match your windowsill. Color the page using the real plants you own as a reference.
- Garden science lesson. Pair the desert page with a chat about how plants survive with very little water.
